infusion center patient with nurse

It was a cold October morning in Georgia. The day began like many others in our TwelveStone Infusion Centers—nurses arriving early, prepping medications, checking temperatures, and readying chairs to welcome patients. But for one patient, this day would hold something more.

He was a rough man, older, weathered—not the kind to show pain, emotion or share the details of his journey. He had advanced-stage multiple sclerosis (MS) and was here for his quarterly Ocrevus infusion. Cautious, guarded and clearly not eager to be at TwelveStone, he arrived on time and quietly took a seat.

One of our experienced infusion nurses, familiar with MS, approached him to offer calm assurance. She gently started the IV, carefully taped it down, and initiated the infusion. She then looked him in the eye and asked, “Sir, is there anything else I can do for you?”

He paused, then looked back and said something she’ll never forget:

“You’re the first person who didn’t hurt me.”

She hadn’t cured his MS. She hadn’t performed a miracle. She simple did her job—with excellence, gentleness, and heart. But in that moment, she was able to offer something many overlook in modern healthcare: dignity in the details.

At TwelveStone, it is my honor to share these stories. We know that care delivery is more than medications and protocols. It’s the way a nurse adjusts the blanket. The way a team member explains the process for the hundredth time with just as much patience. It’s the smile at check-in, the Bible in the front lobby, the thermostat set just right, and the follow-up call that’s made to see how the patient is doing post infusion.

These are not extras—they are expectations. Because patients notice. Families and notice. Most importantly our God notices.

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.” – Luke 16:10 (NIV)

This scripture reminds us that faithfulness isn’t proven in grand gestures—it’s revealed in small, often unseen acts. The ones that make someone feel safe, seen and cared for. The kind of care that says, ‘You matter.”

At TwelveStone, we are in the business of the little things:

  • Warm greetings
  • A name remembered
  • A clean private room
  • On-time deliveries
  • Second safety checks
  • No surprise billing
  • Calls returned quickly
  • Patience to walk people through each step—every single time

We believe God works through these details. And while patients may not always recognize every step taken behind the scenes, we know that every dose mixed, every protocol followed, and every kind word spoken creates trust.

So today, and every day, may we strive to do the small things well. Because in doing so, we’re not just delivering care—we’re creating moments of dignity, grace and healing. This is our calling. And we’re grateful to walk it out every day, one detail at a time.
