4th of july quote

As our country prepares to celebrate Independence Day and look ahead to America’s 250th birthday, it is a meaningful time to reflect on the people, decisions and moments that helped shape the nation we are privileged to call home.

Last week, members of the TwelveStone leadership team traveled to Virginia to celebrate the ribbon cutting for one of our newest infusion centers in Newport News. The visit also included time with the incredible teams supporting our Sterling, Stone Springs and Woodbridge locations.

While in the area, I had the opportunity to visit Yorktown and the Lincoln Memorial—two places that remind us how much of America’s story has been shaped by courage, sacrifice, leadership and faith.

At Yorktown, George Washington did not win because he had the largest army. For much of the Revolutionary War, he did not. But at Yorktown, three things came together that changed history: the right team, the right strategy and the right location.

Those same lessons remain deeply relevant today.

The Right Team

Washington surrounded himself with exceptional leaders, including Nathanael Greene, Henry Knox, the Marquis de Lafayette, Rochambeau and the French allies. They came from different backgrounds and brought different perspectives, but they were united around a common mission.

At TwelveStone, we believe the same principle applies. We will never outgrow the importance of having the right people.

Every nurse, pharmacist, intake specialist, reimbursement specialist, sales representative and support teammate plays an essential role in our mission. The best strategy in the world cannot succeed without people who trust one another, serve with purpose and remain focused on the patients and providers who count on us.

Great organizations are built by great people.

The Right Strategy

Washington understood that the goal was not to win every battle. The goal was to win the war. He adapted when circumstances changed, remained patient when necessary and acted with confidence when the right opportunity came.

At TwelveStone, we are not simply focused on a good quarter or even a good year. We are building an organization designed to last.

That means continuing to invest in quality, patient experience, physician relationships and operational excellence. It also means making decisions with long-term purpose, even when short-term opportunities may look appealing.

Sustainable growth requires discipline. Lasting impact requires strategy.

The Right Location

Yorktown was not an accident. Washington recognized that Cornwallis had become vulnerable on a peninsula, where the French navy could block escape by sea while American and French forces surrounded him by land.

The battlefield mattered.

For TwelveStone, location is about more than geography. It is about positioning ourselves where we can make the greatest difference.

We carefully choose the communities we serve, the providers we partner with, the markets we enter and the patients we fight for. We do not grow simply for the sake of growth. We grow where we believe TwelveStone can improve access, strengthen care coordination and support patients living with chronic and complex conditions.

Remembering What Freedom Requires

As we celebrate Independence Day, and as America prepares to mark 250 years, we are reminded that freedom was secured through sacrifice, leadership, courage and providence.

Washington himself often acknowledged God’s hand in preserving the Continental Army through circumstances that seemed impossible. While human leadership, sound strategy and brave people mattered, history also points us toward something greater than human planning alone.

At TwelveStone, we are grateful for the freedoms we enjoy, the communities we serve and the people who make our mission possible every day.

This Fourth of July, we honor those who sacrificed to secure our freedom. We also recommit ourselves to building an organization worthy of the trust our patients, providers, partners and teammates place in us.

From all of us at TwelveStone, we wish you a safe, joyful and meaningful Independence Day.
